Abstract/Summary

An email confirming discovery of a feature identified on 7 May 2014 in a cross section created by a recent collapse, with layers of charcoal visible. A zone of heated substrate suggested in situ heating, and was thought to represent a hearth of c. 1 metres diameter. The stratigraphy suggested the site may predate tree clearance on the slopes, and its position in a steep narrow valley suggests a potential Mesolithic date.
