MEM25447 - Late prehistoric cairn on Ilkerton Ridge (Monument)

Summary

A stony, flat topped circular mound with a hollow in the top was noted during field survey following a wildfire in 2022. It was suggested to potentially represent a cairn of late Neolithic or Bronze Age date.

Full Description

SS 72270 44675. A stony, flat topped circular mound with a hollow in the top was noted on the southeastern side of Ilkerton Ridge during field survey following a wildfire in 2022. The mound was measured as 9 metres diameter and 0.7 metres high, and the hollow 2 metres by 1 metre by 0.4 metres deep. The mound was suggested to possibly represent a small burial cairn of late Neolithic or Bronze Age date. [1]
