Full Description
ST 078348. Deserted farmstead of Tilsey, indicated in the 1327 Lay Subsidy by the entry of Richard Tiltechene. [1] On the 1840 tithe map there is a farmstead here but only a cottage is shown on the OS 1:25000. [Tilsey Cottages extant on OS 1:10000 1976]. [2,3] Tilsey Barn and Tilsey Cottages are shown on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [4] The modern (2013) map shows the barn to the north of the site as still extant. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
