Probably 17th century origin, with later alterations. Colourwashed rough-cast, thatched roofs with eyebrow dormers, stone end stacks. Two storeys. Six windows, modern wood casements. Two plain doors, one with gabled wood porch. Forms part of picturesque group of thatched cottages around Gallox Bridge. [1] English Heritage Listed Building Number: 264706. First Listed on 06/11/1975. [2] The 2002 Conservation Area Character Appraisal for Dunster states "beyond the bridge nos. 28 & 30 stand in an isolated position against a wooded backdrop. They too probably have 17th century origins with thatch, eyebrow dormers, colour-washed render, plank doors, and one has a gabled timber porch." [3] The buildings were visited in April 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. They received a BAR score of 6. [4] The buildings are depicted on 2018 MasterMap data. The northern end is labelled "28" and the southern end "30". [5] The building is mentioned in the 2018 Conservation Area Appraisal for Dunster. [6] The building was assessed as part of the 2018-19 rapid condition survey of Exmoor’s Listed Buildings. It received a BAR score of 6. [7]
