Full Description

Early 19th century with later alterations. Random rubble red sandstone, ashlar quoins and dressings to openings. Plain tile roof, brick chimney stacks. Tile hanging to west gable at first floor supported on wooden brackets. Two storeys. Two casement windows, small paned, diamond shaped glazing to ground floor windows. Modern door under gabled hood on brackets. 1.5 storey gabled wing to east. Included for group value. [1] English Heritage Listed Building Number: 264649. First Listed on 04/08/1983. [2] The building is situated within Dunster's Conservation Area. [3] The building was visited in April 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 6. [4] The building is depicted on 2018 MasterMap dataand is labelled "7". [5] The site is shown on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. Two buildings are shown occupying the footprint of the current property, with only a small gap between them. They are not labelled. [6] The Tithe Map for Dunster shows a building in this position, apparently occupying the same floorplan of the current property. It is part of a wider group of buildings within a land parcel labelled 76, which the Apportionment describes as "Farm House etc", owned and occupied by John Fownes Luttrell Esquire. [7] The building is mentioned in the 2018 Conservation Area Appraisal for Dunster. [8] The building was assessed as part of the 2018-19 rapid condition survey of Exmoor’s Listed Buildings, receiving a BAR score of 6. [9]
