Full Description
A small circular mound is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork north east of Broadfield Wood, Old Cleeve. Located at approximately ST 0307 3559, the low mound measures some 12 metres in diameter, but may have been spread and reduced by ploughing. Its location on a broad hillcrest overlooking a valley is typical of prehistoric funerary monuments, and the mound may be the remains of a prehistoric, possibly Bronze Age cairn. Further survey is required. [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
