Full Description

A fragmentary bank is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on Trimps Hill, Minehead. Centred at approximately SS 9748 4447, the bank runs northwest to southeast along the course of the 110 metre contour line for approximately 200 metres. It measures up to 5 metres wide, and is fragmented in places. The bank resembles a field boundary and may represent a medieval attempt to enclose the higher ground. No field boundaries are depicted on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1889, suggesting they had been abandoned prior to this date.
