Full Description

A large oval mound was noticed in a walkover survey in 2024 [1]. The mound is composed of peat or turf and no surface stone is visible. It is 7m N/S and 7.6m E/W, and approximately 1.1m in height. The mound is located on the edge of a disused peat cutting on the western side of Exford Common, centred on SS 85215 40799. Given its composition and location it seems likely to be the remains of a post medieval turf stack.
