Full Description

The railway bridge in Churchtown dates to the late 19th Century. [1] The bridge carries a road over the historic route of the Lynton to Barnstaple Railway line (MMO42) and was extant in 2022. [2] The bridge is first shown on the 25 inch 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey map. The route of the road was altered to allow the construction of the railway line at some time between the survey of the 25 inch 1st and 2nd Edition maps. [3,4] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in November 2022. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [5]
