Full Description
A large roughly shaped stone block stands on Prescott Down at SS 8639 3940. It bears an inscription in Latin, which states "HIC TACENT CINERES DARBY HADDONIS ET CHERRY HADDONIS PROSPERE VENENTUR QUI HUNC DAPIDEM PRAETERVE HUNTUR". It is believed to be dedicated to a local farming family. The feature was photographed in 2012. [1] SS 8640 3938. The stone is visible on the 2021 aerial photographs of the site. [2] The stone is not depicted or labelled on the 2022 MasterMap data. [3]
