Full Description

At the town end of School Lane is Wisteria Cottage, rendered with a thatched roof and central brick chimney stack – probably dating to the 18th Century. [1] The building is labelled "Wistaria Cottage" on the 2022 MasterMap data. An outbuilding is shown to the north. [2] The building and outbuilding is shown on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [3] It is also shown on the Tithe Map for Dulverton, when a small building abutted its northwestern elevation at the southern end, where the road now curves to the north. The outbuilding was also present at this time, and the northeastern end of the house is coloured differenly to the rest of the property, suggesting an ancillary function. [4] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in November 2022. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [5]
