Full Description
Brook Cottage is part of a plain cottage row that mainly dates from the 17th Century or earlier. The buildings feature render or colourwash over stone rubble, and lowered dormers under tiled pent roofs, suggesting that they were thatched previously. The row features a mixture of timber and casement windows, with plank and ledged doors, some of which are part glazed. Brook Cottage is at the end of the row, and features a larger former shop window on its gable end. [19] Brook Cottage is depicted and labelled on the 2022 MasterMap data at SS 9050 4691. [2] The building is shown on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map, with a slightly different plan form to the rear of the property (southwestern end). [3] The building also appears to be shown on the Tithe Map for Selworthy Parish. [4] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in November 2022. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [5]
