MEM25113 - Post-medieval quarry pit east of West Lyn River (Monument)

Full Description
A small quarry pit, 5 metres north to south, 4 metres east to west and 2 metres deep, with associated spoil mounds, lies at SS 7268 4419 and was probably dug to provide stone for the nearby enclosure wall which dates from the post-medieval period. The features were surveyed at a scale of 1: 10,000 using differential GPS by the English Heritage AS&I team (Exeter). [1,2] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [3]
