MEM23593 - Outbuildings west of former Vicarage stables, Winsford (Building)

An outbuilding is shown on the Tithe Map for Winsford at c. SS 9053 3521, within land parcel 440. The accompanying apportionment describing this as owned and occupied by the Reverend Bennet Michell, and the buildings as "House and Garden etc". This description appears to describe the Vicarage buildings across the road to the southwest, which share the same land parcel reference. [1] The building described above is also shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps, as is a further small outbuilding at c. SS 9052 3521. This latter building is orientated along the boundary of the stableyard, which makes a dog leg around its western corner. The 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map also depicts its northeastern elevation as being open. [2,3] The building is no longer depicted on the modern MasterMap data, suggesting it was demolished. The boundary for the site in this area has been smoothed out and a larger linear structure built to the southeast of the demolished one at SS 9053 3521. [4] Winsford was designated as a conservation area in 2023. The new appraisal was produced as part of the adoption of the conservation area. [5]
