A guide post is marked on modern MasterMap data. [1] The signpost was visited in September 2015 and its condition assessed. It has SCC (Somerset County Council) repeated on the four sides of a pyramid finial. The attached fingers read: DULVERTON 7 3/4 MINEHEAD 14 EXFORD 4 1/2 SIMONSBATH 10 TARR STEPS 3 ROYAL OAK INN KARSLAKE HOUSE HOTEL HALSE FARM [including camping images] WITHYPOOL 3 3/4 SOUTH MOLTON 15 The post was made by Sheldon Wells. [2] Three photographs in the Winsford Archive collection show changes to the signpost throught the 20th century. Two pre-war photographs show the post as alternating black and white bands. [3] Winsford was designated as conservation area in 2023. The new appraisal was produced as part of the adoption of the conservation area. [4] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [5]
