MEM22616 - Undated mound on The Chains (Non-antiquity)

A possible cairn was noted during a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on The Chains, undertaken by South West Archaeology as part of the Exmoor Mires Project. This falls within the general stony area MEM22612. [1] The Historic Environment Officer for the Exmoor Mires Project undertook a non-intrustive walkover survey of the proposed mire restoration area on The Chains, which included this site. Noted was a poorly defined mound located on a slope. This has a non-stony make-up and is unconvincing as a cairn. [2]
