Full Description

House, one of a pair, now hotel. Early C19. Rubble, rendered to front, some slatehanging. A symmetrical plain front to central staircase plan, set on the slopes of Summerhouse Hill. 3 storeys; 3-window front, all sashes; 9-pane above 15-pane, but 16-pane to ground floor; central panelled door under plain fanlight in deep reveals to elliptical arch, on slate steps. The rear wall has a 12-pane at eaves level and a stair sash, both in brick dressings. The gable to the left has a small light to the attic space, and a 12-pane sash. There are gable stacks. INTERIOR not accessible. [1] Summerhouse Path rises steeply from Watersmeet Road. On the right is Seaview a three-storey late 18th - early 19th Century house with symmetrical plan, sash windows with narrow glazing bars and elliptical arched entrance with plain reveals, panelled door and fanlight. [2] The building was visited in April 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 6. [3] The building is mentioned in the 2018 Conservation Area Appraisal for Lynmouth. [4] The building was assessed as part of the 2018-19 rapid condition survey of Exmoor’s Listed Buildings, receiving a BAR score of 6. [5]
