Context One Archaeological Services Ltd (COAS) was instructed to carry out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording during groundworks relating to the construction of a compound as part of water main rehabilitation works at West Luccombe Farm, Exmoor (the ‘Site’). The project was commissioned and funded by Wessex Water plc under a Term Agreement with COAS.
There are no records of any previous archaeological activity on the Site although a range of multi-period features are recorded in the vicinity.
Despite the Site being in an area of known earthworks, no archaeological features or deposits of any kind were observed during development groundworks.
