A hamlet of likely later medieval date (C11th – C16th), deserted and undeveloped since abandonment. One of a small group of 5 such deserted hamlets on Exmoor. Unexcavated, with a high level of evidential evidence likely to be present. Distinctive house plans which add to the other standing and deserted examples. May be named ‘Ham’ or ‘Mansley’. Lies within PAL (19: Mansley Combe) and associated with the medieval field system, including strip fields and corn ditches and enclosure bank as well as routeway.
