2. Predominantly 15th century with evidence of 12th and 13th century work, restored 1875-7 by G E Street. Possesses a monastic choir dating from C13 when Reginald de Mohun established a Benedictine Priory connected with Bath Abbey. Red sandstone walling and slate roofs. Cruciform plan with central tower, north and south transepts. 4-stage embattled tower of 1443 with diagonal buttresses, stair turret, single bell-chamber windows. Western half of church has traces of Norman work, elsewhere mainly Perpendicular. Embattled south porch and aisle, 3-light windows with panel tracery. Fine late 15th century carved oak rood screen with 14 unequal openings and elaborately carved canopy. Monuments include: stone female, effigy with canopy (said to be one of the Everard family); the recumbent figures of Sir Hugh Luttrell and wife (C15); an incised slab with figure of Lady Elizabeth Luttrell (C15); an altar tomb with two pairs of recumbent figures, also Luttrells.
